Cedar Glen Malt Shop sits comfortably in the heart of Cedar Glen as a casual, fast-paced hamburger and American-style restaurant with a classic malt shop vibe that nods to the 1950s era. It’s a local spot where families, hikers, and mountain visitors converge for straightforward, satisfying fare that leans heavily into hearty burgers, creamy malts, and nostalgic comfort food.

The atmosphere here feels relaxed but lively, and you can tell the place has built its reputation by focusing on delivering consistent, friendly service in a setting that recalls old-school diners. Wooden booths and checkered accents create a backdrop that pairs well with the menu’s themed burger names—like the Low Rider, Buick Roadmaster, and Mushroom Swiss—that add a playful local twist.

Menu highlights lean heavily on classic American staples but with some thoughtful variations. The bacon cheeseburger offerings, including unique combinations like the Cheeseburger and Peanut Butter Burger, are clear crowd-pleasers. For those wanting something lighter, there’s the option to swap fries for a side salad, and there's a decent range of sandwiches from an albacore tuna melt to hot pastrami and more.

Visitors tend to come here for a casual meal after outdoor activities or when craving a nostalgic comfort food fix. The crowd is a mix of families enjoying kids’ menu options, couples looking for a relaxed lunch or dinner spot, and locals catching up over root beer floats or malts. The malt shakes—especially the chocolate malts and classic banana splits—draw as much attention as the burgers.

The service is routinely friendly and helpful, even when the place fills up on a busy weekend or a sunny afternoon, reflecting a team geared toward making each guest feel welcomed. Expect a short wait during peak times, but the casual, easy-going pace means it’s a comfortable environment to grab a menu, chat with friends, or enjoy a cool shake while watching Cedar Glen’s mountain views.

Overall, Cedar Glen Malt Shop suits those who appreciate straightforward American diner food with a nostalgic touch, especially after a day exploring the nearby trails or just when the hunger for a well-made burger and a creamy shake strikes. Morning and early evening times can offer a quieter experience, while weekends and afternoons bring a more energetic local vibe.

Took a stroll to Lake Arrowhead from the city to enjoy the mountains and beautiful weather after raining. We asked locals for a good burger spot and found this place, highly rated for a reason. Very good food and service, wonderful people, and just overall good atmosphere. I’ll indeed be back many times over because it was such a good burger. Yum yum yum

If you’re anywhere near Cedar Glen, you absolutely have to stop by The Malt Shop. The burgers and fries are out-of-this-world — they’ve got that timeless, nostalgic, homemade taste that instantly takes you back. The shakes and malts are just as good, and my mom couldn’t resist trying the root beer float — delicious! The staff is genuinely welcoming, which makes the experience feel even better. The place itself is humble, almost a hidden hole-in-the-wall. At first glance, you might not know what to expect, but trust me — give it a shot and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. A true gem that captures the essence of old-school comfort food. PS. Sorry for the half eaten burger pic! I couldn’t resist lol!

They were packed out when we got there so we signed in grabbed a menu and waited in the car. Took about 15 minutes for them to come out and invite us in. Servers were happy and helpful. I got a small maraschino cherry shake and the Tijuana taxi which is a grilled chicken breast sandwich with Ortega chilis, grilled onions and swiss cheese on a brioche bun with a salad instead of fries. It was kind of messy but I enjoyed the flavor. The chicken was tender and they put plenty of Ortega chilis. Hubby got the Nomad which is a third pound hamburger with bacon, cheese and peanut butter, (yes I said peanut butter) tomato, grilled onions on a brioche bun with frings or french fries and onion rings. The onion rings were crunchy and savory. The hamburger was really good and the peanut butter didn't throw it off at all. It was more like a thickened peanut butter sauce. He also got the large hot fudge swirl shake. We were told adding malt to the shake would make it sweeter and creamier so we decided not to do that. The shakes were perfect the way they came out. I was really happy about the whole meal and it was worth the wait. I would definitely recommend.

Delicious burgers and malts! They have over 10 options to chose from with delicious fries and onion rings. There are a few beers from the bottle and all the malts your heart desires.

We're locals and our family loves it here. Definitely the best burgers on the mountain. Love their onion rings and the decor is classic oldie car '50s diner. The shakes are so good and so many flavors! A definite must if you're visiting or live on the mountain.

Spent the weekend up the road from this tiny but mighty malt shop. Old time feel, with awesome decor. We tried the root beer float, the rainbow float, the peanut butter shake and vanilla shake. They were all phenomenal! Order a burger, delicious! Toasted buns! We also had the fries and onion rings which were on point as well! Man! I wish a didn’t live far from here, otherwise I’d come a lot!
